Miniature Spotlight: Chaos Dwarfs

Chaos Dwarf Infernal Guard
Chaos Dwarf Infernal Guards with Fireglaives
I've (more or less) finished painting my Chaos Dwarf Infernal Guards. I might add some battle damage, rust amd blood here and there in the future.
Since I don't play Warhammer but instead use these miniatures in my D&D game (where they did a fine job and almost killed my group which lead to a challenging encounter) I decided to go with round bases, Micro Art Studios Chaos Waste bases to be exact.

I really like the style of these bases. And not only seemed a dead desert type of base to be very appropriate for the fallen Dwarves but I really needed some nice looking bases to enhance the look of these rather plain miniatures. But it was not the main troops that got me interested in these little buggers but the cool looking Infernal Command and the Daemonsmith miniatures which I'm looking foreward to paint in the near future:

The Happy Spender: Chaos Dwarf Bull Centaur Renders

I actually bought these models a few weeks ago but didn't post a Happy Spender since my game group also reads this blog and sometimes there's a need for a little surprise. ;)
But since these minis made their appearance in my game last Sunday I can safely post the images now. The Chaos Dwarf Bull Centaur Renders were acquired fully painted (by ThirdEyeNuke Studio) via eBay. I was planning on buying these models and painting them myself when I saw these on CoolMiniorNot. I immediately loved the paint job, it is so much better than the one from the Forge World website and decided to go in the same direction when painting them myself. Then I saw that the minis in the pictures were actually sold on eBay. A set of three pro painted fully assembled Chaos Dwarf Bull Centaur Renders on awesome custom bases for only the additional cost of 33 Euros per model in comparison to the unpainted and unassembled versions? Granted, I could paint them myself and save a hundred bucks. But given the time I would need to clean, assemble and paint these bad boys....buying them fully painted was a temptation I could not resist. :)

The Happy Spender: Chaos Dwarfs, Bases and Paints

I bought myself another army: The Chaos Dwarfs from Forge World:

Infernal Command
Daemonsmiths

Infernal Guard

Fireglaives
I really like the design of the Chaos Dwarfs and I think they will look awesome on the gaming table.

Right now I'm in the process of deciding which bases would be right for the army:

On the left we have the Fire and Brimstone bases from Forgecraft Games. On the right we have the Basic Ruins from Dragonforge. I'm still very torn which one I will use. I think I will paint a few of each and make the final decision when the miniatures are painted as well.

And I bought a set of Slate Ruins (the left ones) from Forgecraft Games for my Empire Army which seem to be a perfect addition to my Temple bases (the right ones) from Dragonforge (and are also way cheaper):

I also bought a few new paints from The Army Painter because I wanted to try their metallic range as well as their washes and their anti shine matt varnish. And while I was adding stuff to my basket I also bought a few regular paints:

I heard good things about their metallics and since I'm experimenting a lot with new washes (thank you GW for making that necessary. Thank you so much.) this seemed to be the perfect time to test them as well. :)
