On the Worktable: Micro Art Studio District 5 Apartments

I had a hard time deciding which paint theme I wanted to use on my Micro Art Studio District 5 Apartments:

In the end I think the version on the right looks best. But I'm still a bit worried that a complete table may look to dark because of all the low-keyed colors I want to use o represent a dark Cyberpunk/Blade Runner style. Time will tell...

This is my result so far:

Still very much a WIP. But I like where this is going.

The Happy Spender: City Grounds from Miniature Scenery

I was planning to make my own modular street scenery with foamboard and plasticcard for a Dark Future setting when I stumbled upon the really awesome terrain from Miniature Scenery:

City Grounds
I love the look of the boards! I got myself 2 City Grounds sets. Each contains 20 modular square tiles that can be configured as desired. Here are a few examples I found on the web what 2 of these sets look like in action (shown here with additional terrain and miniatures from various manufactures):

I'm not 100% sure which paint theme I will choose for this. I really like the clean look of some Infinity boards but I think I might go for a gritty dystopian look. We will see. :)

On the Worktable: Hirst Arts Sci-Fi Arena WIP 1

"... a place where you needn't follow rules because none exist; the pits of the underworld."

                                                                                - Batiatus (Spartacus 1x04 - The Thing in the Pit)

I recently watched the first season of Spartacus again and decide to bring an gladiator element in my Cyberpunk setting of the DPC like the pit from the fourth episode. I envision it to be a very dark and gritty arena with blood stained walls, razor wire fences and many many more cool things.

I decided to go with Hirst Arts to build this and today I made a general overview of the floor setup:

Elements from 4 different molds were used for this setup:

I will divide the floor in 4 parts for a better modularity of the setup:

Tomorrow I will base the tiles on 4 pieces of Styrofoam (10 mm / 0,39 inches). I also made the first of a set of columns for this setup:

Side A

Side B
The columns will be made in a way that they will connect with each other if desired and form a wall/new level etc. The cloum shown above has two different sides and is based on a 1 mm (0.4 inch)  MDF plate.

On the Worktable: Hirst Arts Sci-Fi Setup

I'm making progress with the casting of my Sci-Fi sets. I have my first floors and walls ready and I decided to make a little setup. Nothing is painted yet but I wanted to get a feel for the possibilities of the individual parts. And I got inspired by the upcoming holoboards from MicroArtStudio and decided to create my own. I made several different designs and this setup includes the first example.

The Happy Spender: Jokers and Bozos

Almost exactly 21 years ago, I was 12,  I bought myself a copy of the Cyberpunk 2020 role-playing game. I've been a gamer ever since. To be more exact: a gamemaster ever since. That's why Cyberpunk will always have a special place in my gamer heart. Now, two decades later, I'm working on my next big Cyberpunk campaign setting. I'm actually converting the 2020 setting to fit into my Dark Prophet Sci-Fi Campaign where the planet earth as we know it is actually a long time imperial science project regarding human cultural behavior. A short visit from the Orkz had long reaching consequences and let to the termination of the project and to the open  integration of the inhabitants of the planet earth into the Holy Galactic Empire. The cultural impact on Eden Prime (the imperial name for the Plant Earth) was disastrous, the world as we knew it collapsed and from that point on where pretty much in the Cyberpunk 2020 Setting along with all the other fun stuff that makes the Dark Prophet Chronicles what it is.
Why am I telling you this now? Because like my fantasy campaign the DPC Cyberpunk setting will include tabletop wargaming. And for some time now I'm searching for the perfect miniatures for a Cyberpunk gang that calls themselves the Bozos and now I've found them:

The Jokers from Taban-Miniatures are exactly what I need to bring these deadly clowns to life in my game. The miniatures arrived today which is perfect timing since the Urban Rubble Wasteland Bases from Dragon Forge arrived yesterday from the States and I think these will be the perfect bases for these wicked gangbangers.

The Happy Spender: KRIEG!

The Death Korps of Krieg to be more exactly. I was searching the net for dark and somewhat shady looking miniatures for the Imperial Army in my Sci-Fi Dark Prophet Setting. It seems like Forge World has exactly what I need:

I love how dark and sinister the Death Korps of Krieg combine the characteristics and appearance of the fighting forces of WWI. From the boots to the steel helmets and gas masks they embody all the horror, brutality and inhumanity I expect from the Army of Man.

The Happy Spender: Weapon Lockers, Bases and Dark Eldar Incubi

New Sci-Fi stuff has arrived: The  Dark Eldar Incubi. I really like the Incubi, not only because they look wicked sick but because I can use these models in my Sci-Fi as well as in my fantasy campaign.

Which tool of war should it be today:

I also bought a set of 20 Sci-Fi bases because I really like the look:

The Incubi as well as the biker chicks and the the Blood Widow are in the process of being painted right now, so there will be a new Miniature Spotlight post in the near future. :)
And this Sunday my group will play the next part of the current adventure of the Dark Prophet Chronicles, so a new Battle Report will be posted next week.

The Future Looks Dark And Grim

I'm a big fan of the dark future Cyberpunk genre, so it's just a matter of time for the Dark Prophet Chronicles to get a setting in that genre. To slowly bulk up on scenery, miniatures and accessories for the time when magic, shields and swords are replaced by psy, guns and cybernetics I decided to start buying some nice Sci-Fi equipment from Antenocitis Workshop.

100 bucks worth of stuff should look like more, shouldn't it?
Some of these things will be a pain to assemble. I allready noticed some broken parts, a missing base and in one case a small difference between the image and the actual miniature scenery. But all in all it will probably look quite cool when it's assembled and painted:

A Medical Scanner
The future definitely needs some Plasma TVs

A Mapper

A cool workplace

Since mobile phones aren't really new anymore, these things look kind of silly in a dark and grim future setting. But I really like them anyway. :)

The fueling stations of the future. Yeah, at first I though these were some kind of weapons too. But no, the stuff coming out of these things will make your car go VRRROOOOOM instead of BOOOOM.

speaking of cars...
I love this bike!
Since I'm playing D&D for many years now, I'm really looking forward for some nice Sci-Fi Tabletop action. BTW: In every single box there's a description saying "Warning! This is not a toy!". Yeah right. Definitely not. Miniatures and stuff are serious business. Word. :)
