On the Gaming Table: Dwarvern Forge Den of Evil Expansion Set

I got my Den of Evil Expansion Set  today and like I said yesterday I made a quick setup with my other DoE sets and a few Dark Eldar and Death Korps troops to get a feeling what is possible to build with this expansion. While I like the design of the product there are a few paint differences between the pieces and the accuracy of fit is not optimal. And some parts have slight height differences which makes it more difficult to place miniatures or to build another level upon them.
All in all not that bad of a problem but I'm used to a great quality whenever I buy a set from Dwarven Forge and this is not quite as good as usual. So I wanted to see how it looks in a normal setup:

Color differences are nothing new between the sets (even though this should not be happening) so the slightly different colors in the new set don't really stand out.

The color changes between the tiles are noticeable but not so bad. And I closed the hugest gap with one of the tentacle walls which actually fits nicely.

To sum it up: Cool! :) I could have been even more amazed with this new set without the little gaps and color changes and so forth. But in the end I'm very pleased with what can be done with it. :)

On the Worktable: Hirst Arts Sci-Fi Setup

I'm making progress with the casting of my Sci-Fi sets. I have my first floors and walls ready and I decided to make a little setup. Nothing is painted yet but I wanted to get a feel for the possibilities of the individual parts. And I got inspired by the upcoming holoboards from MicroArtStudio and decided to create my own. I made several different designs and this setup includes the first example.

Building and assembling stuff with Girlz
The player of Lukretzia came by again and we continued to work on our projects. She assembled a few more Ogres while I was building new terrain pieces (pictures of the terrain will follow in a few days).

I especially like the guy on the right. Because wielding just one freaking big club would be silly, wouldn't it? :)

Tomorrow we will visit the SPIEL Fair in Essen, Germany. It will be the first time in years that we can visit the SPIEL without having our own booth there. That's going to be pretty relaxing&fun and we are really looking foreward to it.

YAY!!! GAMES, MINIATURES AND STUFF!!!!

With some kind of supernatural clairvoyance I predict that the day tomorrow will hurt my wallet. I also predict that when I wake up on Sunday and go into the living room to see all my new stuff this will be my  reaction:

The Happy Spender: Kapitan Ivanka Kurganova

I really like my new Death Korps Army. But I always thought something was missing. Now I know what it was: It was Ivanka.

I'm not a big fan of the uber-sword. But she will make a fine addition to the Korps anyway. ;)

Miniature Spotlight: The Legions of Krieg WIP 2

I received the second batch of WIP pictures of the newly painted Death Korps soldiers from Duc today:

 

Duc has almost finished his part of the painting and they will arrive at my door sometime at the end of the week. If I'm lucky I will find the time over the weekend to make some minor paint touch ups and add a little scenery stuff to the bases. I'm thinking about a little razor wire here and there and some dead grass. I'm really looking forward to get my hands on these minis. :)

Miniature Spotlight: The Legions of Krieg

To complete my last session I've spend a lot of time over the last weekend putting together the Commissar, a Heavy Bolter Team, a Heavy Flamer Team, a second Command Squad, the Quartermaster and Retinue and a few minis from the Command HQ Squad:

I love the new bases from Dragon Forge. They're just awesome!
I've already sent all the newly assembled Death Korps minis on their way to the Duc and I'm really looking forward to see him working his magic with these minis. :)

Miniature Spotlight: The Death Korps of Krieg Grenadiers, Vox Operator and Standard Bearer

I found some time over the weekend and put together a Grenadiers Squad, a Grenadier with Meltagun, a Grenadier with a Heavy Stubber as well as a Command Vox Operator and a Standard Bearer from the Command Squad:

I would've also put together the Grenadier Heavy Flamer Team but I was not happy with the two normal 25mm bases that came with the team. I was searching the web for the right fit and decided to go with Micro Art Studio. I ordered the Ruins Bikes Bases on Tuesday via Battlefield Berlin. They were delivered Wednesday morning, less than 24 hours after I placed my order. I didn't orderer any express shipping or anything special. That's their usual shipping time. And that's freaking perfect! :)

Last weeks Forge Wold order was also delivered this week:

Now I only need the time to put the new minis together. If everything goes as planned this will happen over the next few days. :)
