The Happy Spender: Spartan Scenics Med Lab and Armoury Accessories

I really like the new range of terrain from Spartan Games. Especially their line of accessories like the Spartan Scenics Med Lab Accessories and the Armoury Accessories. I have them on my table right now and the details are great. And I like the use of acrylic glass to enhance the realistic feeling of the sets.

Here are two images from Spartan Games that show the Med Lab and the Armoury Accessories together with their new line of buildings. I think I might add their complete Scenic line to my Sci-Fi collection, this looks very promising:

Miniature Spotlight: A half-timbered Building from Pardulon and the Water Well from Tabletop World

I finished painting the half-timbered Building #VII from Pardulon (sans the door) and the Water Well from Tabletop World. What I really like about the buildings from Pardulon is that if you don't glue every single floor on top of each other you maintain quite a bit of modularity (and of course you retain the possibility to put miniatures on each floor).

The individual floors and the roof

At this point the possible setups are very limited but with additional buildings this could change fast

Miniature Spotlight: The Timbered House from Tabletop World

Technically I haven't yet finished painting the Timbered House from Tabletop World since it's still missing a door and a roof extension to the side. I didn't want to glue the door in so I could retain the possibility to create setups that show miniatures entering or leavin the building. But the door will be painted soon and I will post pictures of the complete Timbered House with the door, the roof extension and additional accessories as soon as I have finished painting a few additional buildings from Tabletop World (I'm currently working on the Blacksmith Forge and the Town House).

Miniature Spotlight: The Windmill from Tabletop World

The Windmill from Tabletop World was a gift from Gamergrrrl (thank you again!). I really enjoyed painting it, especially the light effect in the windows which was something I never tried before:

I probably post more pictures from different angles as soon as I have a decent lighting setup for photographing miniatures as big as the windmill. Right now this is the only shot I'm halfway happy with but at least it's the one where the front side of the windmill is shown. :)

Miniature Spotlight: Reaper, Scibor and Lead Adventure Miniature Scale Comparison

John from Plastic Legions asked me if I could post a Scibor Town Guard/Reaper Bones photo for scale comparison. I was a little bit worried about the scale myself since the 28-32mm heroic scale can sometimes have noticeable differences in proportions if you compare miniatures from different manufacturers with one another. I also included a Reaper Dark Heaven Legends Miniature (it has the same size as its Bones equivalent) and the Plague Doctor from Lead Adventure:

Reaper Bones, Scibor Town Guard, Reaper Dark Heaven Legends, Scibor Town Guard, Lead Adventure Townsfolk
I think it's safe to say that the Town Guard minis work very well with miniatures from other manufacturers. There are some minor differences but these work well as representations of normal height and size differences between persons. :)

The Happy Spender: Town Guards, Bards, Banners and the new Spartan Scenics Med Lab and Armoury Accessories

The Town Guard from Scibor Miniatures will make a nice addition for my townsfolk collection:

I especially like the jester/drummer and the monk. I will probably change his standard because it's a little bit to much and over the top (but think it would make an awesome sign for a tavern). But thinking about changing it gave me the perfect excuse to also buy these cool banners from Tabletop-Art for a possible conversion:

Another nice addition to my Townsfolk collection will be this awesome bard from Enigma Miniatures:

I don't like the bard character class that much but I do like them as miniatures in a tavern setting or at a market. Or as awesome orcish Heavy Metal bands. Speaking of awesome: I really like the new line of Sci-Fi accessories from Spartan Games. They make amazing stuff and I couldn't resist to add some of it to my collection:

To wrap things up, here are my thoughts about bards as a character class, beautifully summarized by the one and only Dungeon Bastard:
